Some time ago, I decided not to play unless I feel like it. I wanted to see if poker has become more of a habit than entertainment to me.
I stopped playing. The first week, I was wandering what to do some of the late evenings that I was usually doing some sessions, then I discovered that sleeping during these hours is really good. I felt nice and calm. Days kept going with me spending the free time with various and more social activities. I didn’t miss poker, at all..
Recently I played in a home game with my friends and I felt the thrill coming back. It was like the first days when I didn’t care if I could sustain 5bb/100 on 9 tables of 100NL or 200NL; when I wasn’t learning to be a bot; when I wasn’t trying all different games like PLO and HU in search of new thrill. It was just there: EXCITEMENT. It was fun to watch my newbie friends trying to bluff me, making funny moves, bluffing them smallish when they had all but told me they will fold. It was fun.
So I am back playing a bit, nothing much, 4 tables, 1 hour sessions from time to time. I started at 50NL to check how are the games since I left the 6max NL field almost an year ago.
Played 16 hours of poker this month, 10bb/100 around 6000 hands and most importantly poker is fun again
