Unsuccessfull NL400 shot

June 20th, 2008

I was not able to play poker the last 10 days or so, and hence didn’t feel like writing a meaningless blog.

However before that I took a shot at 400NL during the first days of June that for around 6k hands is going pretty bad. I am behind like 7-8 buyins and the bad thing is that I am playing bad. Not sure exactly what are the reasons, but I will make a detailed session review these days and maybe even post some hands here. It looks like this month is going to be my first month in the red since I started playing 6max.

Not nice, serious actions are needed.

Meanwhile I moved to 200PLO, which over a small sample of full ring and 6 max is going great, so this is what kinda makes this month not so terrible.

I will play some 200NL these days make detailed session reviews and come back with more :)

Abosulte poker and Ultimate bet scandal, AGAIN

June 2nd, 2008

I completely support Andrew’s position on the subject.

We need stronger regulation from independent trusted sources and stronger player community to make sure these guys pay and such things don’t happen again. I never played on neither of those sites and I am never going to. However, these scandals are pulling down the image of the poker that has been slowly improving in the last couple of years. In such a manner they are affecting me and anyone who is playing poker either for entertainment or professionally.

Online, we posses the power that information for every hand played is stored, both on the servers of the poker rooms and as hand histories for the participating(observing) players. By combining all this information we can ensure that long streaks of cheating are virtually impossible. A peer-to-peer source of hand histories coupled with a statistical-based software will make it easy to detect significant deviations as are expected for superusers and bots. This might also contribute to ensure the integrity of the randomizing algorithms used (after some serious debiasing).

If by any chance you are still playing AP and UB, move your game out of there. They are still not regulated outside themselves and you would not want to be test subjects for their third superuser attempt.

Monthly summary

May 31st, 2008

One session at the end is what made this month from mediocre to very good.

I was busy most of the month and didn’t quite put the hands I wanted.

I played 4 tables and it gave good results, I am more focused and more read-oriented, still sometimes I make ridiculous plays in situations where I am unsure of where I stand because I don’t want to take the decision that makes it even tougher.

I took a few shots at 100HU, NL400 and PLO up to 200 and I am feeling good about my game.

Next month is going to be tough and I actually hope to sqeeze in as many hours as this month.

My best session up to date

May 31st, 2008

Last night, I decided to finally put in a serious session during some normal hours. I was off to a bad start after getting stubborn with my JJ against a KK, but then the session just started going my way.

On every table that I sit there were maniacish players and on many of them I got to sit on their right and they were paing me off. It was a crazy session, one to remember. And I guess it will might take a while before the next time I make 10 buyins in 1000 hands.

Long break

May 25th, 2008

Due to many side activities I took a long break from the game.

Today I put in a small session. I seriously don’t understand some of the moves people are making.

I had a sence that this oppoenent is playing loose preflop and making moves postflop. Also the timing of his raise was very suspicious so I put him on FD,77-99,xT, and JJ+.It seemed that I can fold significant part of the behind range and I actually belived he could fold Tx here. I mean, my range here like 90% of the time is TT+.

Both players were playing aggro 23/19 style with a lot of 3betting going on. I am quite unsure how to interpret their play on the flop.
